It might sound simple, everything said above, but I have to emphasise that fact that coming up to these conclusions took me a good 5 hours. With this issue solved, all that remained was to create a feedback system where every information that was received, was also sending a response back to the device to activate a specific colour. After persistent tests, I discovered that the information to control the LEDs was identical to the one each button was sending, but with a different velocity value: But what was making the lights turn up on the MIDI Controller? I knew that Ableton had to send some information, but maybe it was just the driver, which is included in Ableton but not accessible, even to my MIDI monitor, so I fired up Max MSP and created a simple system of counters that would send data back to the MIDI device, the same way it was receiving the data in order to see exactly at which command would the LEDs light up and change colour. And as I was expecting, only the keyboard was sending messages, very simple messages, might I add, all the buttons were on MIDI Channel 1 and all information from the keyboard was on channel 2, so the information won’t overlap at any point in time. I hate making videos this critical, he notes, but you can follow my journey. Are any of your external MIDI devices sending nonstop MIDI data like MTC/Clock/SPP/Active Sense (check the Forces MIDI Monitor, also available in the. While their recent MPC workstations have generally been well received, Jordan isn’t impressed with the MPC Key 61. For this I used the MIDI controller in its own environment, Ableton, and used a MIDI monitor to see what information was being parsed between the two. In his latest video, Youtuber Benn Jordan reviews the new AKAI Pro MPC Key 61, the company’s first keyboard Music Production Center. The starting point was to see what information was going where. I have dual monitors & would like to use the software across them. Everything the modern producer demands is here: Universal compatibility for instant integration with your favorite host music production application. Why reverse engineer you might ask? Its very easy, because the actual hardware component is unique and very useful and because it is only supposed to be used in its close communication system with Ableton Live, where I wanted to use it in Max MSP. : Akai Professional MPC Studio MIDI Controller Beat Maker with 16 Velocity. Today I want to show you how I managed to reverse engineer a MIDI Controller from Akai, in order to use it at its full potential in my project. A Controller Template in Control Surface Studio is a virtual representation of a physical MIDI Controller i.e.

I used a couple of techniques to smooth the data - a “ring buffer” of samples and a low-pass filter. I have just completed a sketch for dougsauto involving timing pulses at up to about 2000hz. I would use the notation 0.0588 '' only if that last explicit digit is 8 and not if it's rounded upward to 8, whereas I would use 0.0588 '' if it's rounded either upward or downward. I thought to begin with that I would see the transmit LED fail to flicker rarely, but it's in reality a bit the other way round. One can write 1 17 0.0588, meaning there are further digits after the 8. At the moment I'm just taking two measurements and if they are the same sending them to the Serial Monitor. There are different country-specific standards, IEC (British), ANSI, and AS (Australian Standard), that define the symbols used in circuit diagrams across the world If the text argument to one of the text-drawing functions (text, mtext, axis, legend) in R is an expression, the argument is interpreted as a mathematical expression and the output will be. Is there an elegant way - ie not too many lines of code - of not saving those that are outwith a range of say +/- 3uS of a mean of something like 5 measurements. I have no way of knowing if this is the source, interference or some characteristic of pulseIn(). Two quantities are approximately equal when they are close enough in value so the difference is inconsequential in practical terms. I am at the development stage at the moment and am finding that the CMOS 555 test circuit is being measured at 75uS and every 20th measurement or so it is ~69us. What does with a squiggly mean in math Approximate equality is a concept used primarily in physics and engineering, and also occasionally in mathematics. This is a weaker statement than the other two. I'm measuring a pulse width which will vary from about 100us downwards. is a similarity in geometry and can be used to show that two things are asymptotically equal (they become more equal as you increase a variable like n ). It seems like there are some big companies that are threatening baseless legal action to try to strong-arm Netflix into going to more effort to protect their rights. So why would they, seeing that people are subscribing to and paying for Netflix and using third party software to get around geographical restrictions, try to stop that? They’re not gonna get sued and they’re getting more people paying for their service than they probably otherwise would. Netflix aren’t culpable at all for third party companies’ efforts to access international content, so they’re in no real danger of getting sued for not geoblocking the content that is region-locked because the only way to get around it is to use a vpn. It doesn’t make sense to me from a business perspective. While this wouldn’t stamp out geo-dodging completely, it would make it more difficult for the average user. If Netflix was serious about blocking access to its US catalogue, there are certainly more stringent methods it could employ: for example, requiring a US credit card and a confirmed US billing address. It has been suggested that Netflix’s latest VPN crackdown is just a token gesture to appease studios and international rights holders. In the words of uFlix managing director Peter Dujan: “It’s simply a game of cat and mouse, and this is our job, so let’s play.” Is Netflix Making A Token Gesture? In the case of uFlix, the company has assured customers that its engineers are exploring potential solutions.Īccess to Netflix and other geo-blocked services form these companies’ bread and butter, so you can rest assured that they will do everything in their power to find and exploit a loophole. The other option is to sit tight and see if your VPN provider can come up with any workarounds. I could spoil the common trends like I did with the Veneti but I don't want to do that. For relations, there's a lot of different ways, i.e join their wars, attack their enemies, give them battle support, raid&blockade their enemies, give gifts(I generally don't since it felt unroman, unless its for a vassal fighting in a war/front for me), etc. Remember you can check who has agreements with each other and try to establish trade/NAP with factions you don't want to worry about attacking you. Look at the local politics and then look for an opening. You can do something similar to all the nearby provinces like Makedonia, Hellas, Illyria, Province, etc. A lot of times the Veneti will declare war on you and one of their neighbors so that's an easy scenario to capitalize on. Personally, what I have done a few times for a very easy third province is just wait for the 3 barbarian factions in Cisalpina to start having it out and then sweep in to mop it up. Factions are going to be declaring war on each other before they declare war on you so get involved and find ways to use it to your advantage. Regarding expansion, picking a general direction and province you want and then specifically manipulating those factions and factions connected to them is a good starting point. Plainly stated: If you don't engage in politics, then you can expect your chances of being this unpopular faction to be very high. This extends to not even the factions directly at war with you, but a faction that doesn't like you and has a lot of favor with a faction that is at war with you(that is my rough theory anyway). So if you don't have any deals but you do have some active wars going on, then other factions declare war on you to gain favor with some other faction. Especially for barbarian factions.Īnother way to think of it is that every campaign play-through, no matter what, in the various regions AI factions are making deals and going to war and this creates the development of some very unpopular factions that get ganged up on. It seems especially important to establish trade/NAP with far away factions if you are going to discover them early to prevent them randomly hitting you with a war declaration. Keeping wars to 3-4 seems pretty important early on as more than that increases the risk of a snowball effect where they all start declaring war on you, even from really far away. Diplomacy should be used as a tool to control the direction and tempo of your campaign. If you play on hard and don't engage in diplomacy, you can expect factions to gang up on you quite often. Right away, what sticks out most to me is that is seems pretty clear you are not engaging in diplomacy much at all. I'll stick to some simple strats on how you can prevent being gang banged early on. There's a lot to unpack whenever talking about Roma strategies/playstyles and I don't have the time tonight to get too much into it. That'll prevent factions from ganging up on you like this. You could also start out on N/N and once things get rolling you can use the Hardcore mod to essentially play on hard. The water block uses an array of extremely thin fins to increase the surface area from which the heat can dissipate, and water is run through those micro-fins to move the hot water away from the heat source. This heat is conducted to the water block which is laid on the IHS (there’s a thin layer of thermally conductive material between the IHS and water block, as the water block/IHS contact isn’t perfect). The CPU generates heat, which is conducted to the IHS (integrated heat spreader), or the shiny piece of metal with the CPU model written on it. The pump moves the cold water (and water overall) into the water block for the heat (CPU), and out of the water block. Large reservoirs can hold more water, which means less goofing around with a funnel and distilled water. The reservoir helps during loop filling/draining, and thus while isn’t totally necessary, is extremely helpful. Nevertheless the different "components" are all carefully packed in their own separate plastic bags and arrived in mint condiiton. The reservoir funnels cold water into the pump (generally directly below the reservoir). As you can see above, the box has suffered during transport. The box art is in typical Fractal style, no frills nor thrills, just a clear shot of the included AIO and the "Powerful, Quiet and Expandable" quote reveals what the Kelvin series are all about. Upgradable AIOs are the latest trend, so the Kelvin S36 couldn't miss out on that feature. A logic move to the bigger 140mm fans was not a huge success as these AIO models suffered from many enclosure incompatibilities. The move to 240 and even 360 radiators allowed for even more heat transfer, however most AIO models included high speed 120mm fans these were providing great airflow, though being rather noisy when ran at full blast. Thicker radiators also helped to dissipate the generated processor heat better. For the 120mm radiator versions doubling the fans to create a push and pull configuration quickly became one of the standards. Their performance developed from generation to generation as the processors demands also evolved. Since the launch of the Corsair Hydro50, the All In One models we have seen passing by at the MadShrimps lab have undergone some changes over the years. The Kelvin series will not limit the end user at all. These units are upgradable as standard G1/4" fittings are used all around, thus the possibility of adding optional water blocks, hooking up different kinds of tubing or even using other cooling fluids. Secondly the Kelvin series are equipped with a fill port on the pump unit and the radiator for easy maintenance. Nothing really new as Cooler Master also did this with their Eisberg series, however the radiators of the popular Hydro series from Corsair aren't copper based, therefore the former feature a special mixture to avoid chemical reaction between the copper base plate and the radiator material, hence why some readers don't call these real water cooling units. In a nutshell, what is so special about these Fractal Kelvin series?įirst of all they feature a copper radiator, for a more efficient heat transfer. This is not an uncommon procedure as most brands alike Corsair and Antec AIOs are all teaming up with Asetek and Cool IT technology. The Fractal Design Kelvin series are made together with one of Germany's top water cooling manufacturers Alphacool. The quote, "The best thing ever (that doesn't give xp)" had been featured in the back of the book and originally appeared on the product page of the Jagex Store, but has since been removed from the page. Mod Mark, a Jagex Moderator, asked Zezima if he would like to be quoted in the RuneScape novel Betrayal at Falador, and he accepted. In the now dead FunOrb, a multiple small games website created by Jagex, Zezima was Rank 1 in Orb Points (an overall scoring system on the site). On 21 July 2016, Zezima achieved 200 million experience in all 27 skills, and 5.4 billion experience overall. He won his first competition, Red Imp Kills, on 6 October 2013. As of 27 January 2016, he has won 12 Seasonal HiScores competitions. On 31 August 2013, Zezima attained level 99 Divination, becoming the 18th player to do so. On his YouTube channel Zezima0213, he stated that he quit playing competitively as the game is "getting progressively easier over time", and that he lost a sense of accomplishment in what he worked hard to achieve. After the release of Summoning in January 2008, he lagged behind other players in the hiscores. On 14 June 2007, Zezima became the first person to attain one billion experience overall. He became ranked top 100 in all skills on 19 March 2006, but has since lost that position. At the time of the achievements, these were the highest overall levels a player could obtain. He obtained level 1980 total on 9 July 2005, and level 2079 total on 4 October 2005, becoming the first player to achieve those milestones as well. He achieved his 20th level 99 in Slayer on 9 July 2005, becoming the first player to attain level 99 in the skill. He first achieved the top rank in the hiscores in October 2003, but temporarily lost it when RuneScape 2 was released as he didn't train Runecrafting until Choppermad (who was ranked second at the time) reached level 73 in the skill. His first 99 skill was Smithing, which he achieved in July 2002, followed by 99 Cooking on 10 November 2002 and 99 Fishing on 30 November 2003. Zezima started playing RuneScape in late June/early July of 2001, after one of his friends from the game Triple Triad X messaged him that he knew of a game that he felt Zezima would never be any good at, RuneScape. So tell us what what is being a CEO or being a senior executive? Why is it like being a French fry? So a college friend of mine developed this theory a long time ago, which is that the thing with French fries is you can always eat one more of them. So you're telling us that we'RE gonna be spending time at one of the fast food restaurants talking about French fries today. To answer all these questions and more, Matt Blumberg. If you're overwhelmed by the huge volume of stuff in your world, then this discussion about priorities, working less as saying no will change how you see your job. He says to me, why is being a CEO like a French fry? Before we get to the answer, which will come later. Today's guests asked me a question that I haven't been asked before. This is profit from the inside, with Joel Block insights to give your business the inside track. Matt is a co-author of the second edition of Startup Boards, set to be released in June 2022. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny read their books and, in the back of their minds, hoped that soon their figurative escape would eventually turn into a literal one.Matt Blumberg is a technology entrepreneur, business builder, and CEO of Bolster, an on-demand executive talent marketplace that helps accelerate companies’ growth by connecting them with experienced, highly vetted executives for interim, fractional, advisory, project-based, full-time, or board roles.īefore Bolster, Matt was founder & CEO of Return Path, the market leader in email optimization, until its sale in 2019. In the situation of the orphans, figuratively escaping was not enough, of course, but at the end of a tiring and hopeless day, it would have to do. But by immersing themselves in their favorite reading topics, they felt far away from their predicament, as if they had escaped. They did not literally escape, because they were still in his house and vulnerable to Olaf’s evil in loco parentis ways. Figuratively, they escaped from Count Olaf and their miserable existence. They then went to their room and crowded together on the one bed, reading intently and happily. Violet chose several about mechanical inventions, Klaus chose several about wolves, and Sunny found a book with many pictures of teeth inside. The Baudelaire orphans walked back to Count Olaf’s neighborhood and stopped at the home of Justice Strauss, who welcomed them inside and let them choose books from the library. If you are figuratively jumping for joy, it means you are so happy that you could jump for joy, but are saving your energy for other matters. If you are literally jumping for joy, for instance, it means you are leaping in the air because you are very happy. "It is very useful, when one is young, to learn the difference between 'literally and figuratively.' If something happens literally, it actually happens if something happens figuratively, it feels like it’s happening.
